Scrap my van in Brigstock
If you need to scrap a van in Brigstock, we make it simple. Put the registration and postcode into our instant price page, see the price and accept it. Add your details and we call to book a collection that fits around your work, then come and load it with one of our recovery trucks.
We buy vans up to 3.5 tonnes of any age, make or model. That covers small car-derived vans, medium and long-wheelbase panel vans, Lutons and pickups.

Vans we see around Brigstock
A rural village like Brigstock has plenty of working vehicles:
- Trade vans belonging to builders, plumbers, electricians and landscapers.
- Pickups used around farms and smallholdings.
- Ex-fleet vans that a small business has replaced.
- Old Lutons used for a house move and never sold.
- Vans that have failed an MOT on rust or high mileage.
Whether it has been worked hard for years or has been stood in a yard since the business changed hands, we will give you a price.
Empty it before we come
Vans tend to be full. Before collection, please clear out tools, materials, racking you want to keep, paperwork and anything stored under the seats. Check the cab, door pockets and glovebox. Remove any trackers, dashcams or sat navs, and cancel toll or parking accounts linked to the registration.
If the van has signwriting with your business name, that is fine to leave on. If it carries a private plate, transfer or retain it with the DVLA before collection.
How is a scrap van priced?
Vans are priced mainly on weight and the current scrap metal price, which is why a larger van is often worth more than a small car. Make, model, completeness, keys, V5C and location also count.
| Factor | Effect on the price |
|---|---|
| Size and weight | Heavier vans are worth more as scrap |
| Scrap metal price | Moves with the market |
| Engine, gearbox, catalytic converter, wheels | All present means a better price |
| Keys and V5C | Help the sale |
| Where it is | Affects the collection |
The online price stands as long as the van is complete and as described. If something is different on the day, we explain before we load and you can decline. For more, see our scrap van costs guide and how scrap car prices work.
Collecting from yards, farms and lanes
Vans can be awkward to reach, tucked behind a workshop or parked up in a farm yard. Our collections use the trucks of our sister company, Rapid Recovery Corby, so we can handle heavier vehicles, non-runners and vans with flat tyres. Let us know about access when we call and we will bring the right truck.
Selling a business van
If the van belongs to a company, whoever sells it must provide photo ID and proof of address, as the law requires us to check the seller. Have the V5C ready if you can. If it has gone missing, you can still scrap the van with ID and proof of ownership. See our guide on scrapping without a logbook.
Payment and paperwork
We pay by bank transfer on collection. We never pay cash, because the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 makes cash payments for scrap metal illegal.
Every van goes to a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility. You get a Certificate of Destruction, normally within 7 days, and the DVLA is told. Any full months of tax are refunded automatically. Cancel the insurance yourself.
When is it time to scrap a van?
A van earns its keep until the repair bills start to outweigh the work it does. Common tipping points are rust on the chassis or sills, a failing clutch or gearbox, a head gasket, or a test that throws up several big jobs at once. If you have already bought a replacement and the old van is just taking up space in the yard, there is no reason to keep paying to insure or tax it. Read our guide on whether to scrap or repair if you are on the fence.
