What information we collect
When you use our instant price tool, we use the vehicle's registration number and the postcode where it is to work out your price. We also look up vehicle details from the registration, such as make, model and size. You don't need to give any contact details to see a price.
We only collect your name, phone number and email address if you accept a price or contact us through the contact form. If you ask us to email you your price, we only collect your email address. In that case we may also hold:
- Your name, phone number and email address.
- The vehicle's registration number and postcode.
- Anything you tell us about the vehicle when we speak, such as whether it is complete, has keys or has a V5C.
- The price we offered you, and whether you accepted it.
When we collect a vehicle, we also record the seller's ID details, as the law requires.
Why we use it
We use your information to:
- Give you a price and honour it. We use the registration and postcode to work out a price. If you accept, we keep a record so the price stands when we collect.
- Contact you about your collection. If you accept, we use your phone number and email to arrange a time, send you a record of the price and keep you updated.
- Reply to your message. If you use the contact form, we use your details to get back to you.
- Meet our legal duty. The Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 requires us to record sellers' ID details at collection.
- Send you a reminder about your price shortly before it runs out, but only if you tick the box to say you want one. Every reminder has a link to stop them.
Our lawful bases
Data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for each use:

Who we share it with
We only share your information where it is needed to provide the service:
- The vehicle data provider we use to look up the registration.
- Our email provider, which handles messages we send and receive.
- Our web host, which runs the website and price tool.
- The Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF) that scraps the vehicle, so it can complete the scrapping and notify the DVLA.
We never sell your information, and we don't pass it to anyone for marketing.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't go ahead: 12 months, so we can help if you come back to us about the same vehicle.
- Completed collections: as long as the law requires for scrap metal records.
After that, we delete or securely dispose of the information.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct information that is wrong or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete your information, unless we must keep it by law.
- Object to us using your information based on legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent for reminders at any time. This doesn't affect anything we did before you withdrew it.
