We Buy Scrap Cars Corby is run by George Mitchell, who lives and works in Corby. George has been in vehicle recovery for over five years and runs Rapid Recovery Corby, a vehicle recovery company. We Buy Scrap Cars grew out of that work. People kept asking the recovery side to take away cars that were not worth saving, so we set up a proper, licensed way of buying them.

Why we use our own recovery trucks
Every collection is done with trucks from Rapid Recovery Corby. That includes spec lift tow trucks, beavertail tilt-and-slide transporters and a van with dollies and skates for low garages, tight spots and seized wheels. Some trucks carry one car and tow a second, so two cars can go at once.
In practice it means a non-runner with flat tyres, a car that has sat in a garage for years or a van on a soft farm track is a normal day's work, not a problem.
Licensed and legal
We hold a waste carrier licence and a scrap metal collector's licence. Every vehicle we buy goes to a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF). We pay by bank transfer, never cash. Paying cash for scrap cars is illegal under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013. The same law means we have to check the seller's name and address, so we will ask for photo ID and proof of address when we collect.
