Selling a damaged car in Brigstock
You can sell your damaged car in Brigstock to us without repairing it, arguing with a body shop or finding a buyer who wants a project. Put your registration and postcode into our instant price page, tell us about the damage, and accept the price if it suits. We then arrange free collection.
Country roads see their share of accidents. A slide on a wet bend, a clash with a deer near the woods, a bump on a narrow lane or a car that went into a ditch in the frost. When the repair bill is bigger than the car is worth, scrapping makes sense.

Insurance write-offs and buy-backs
If your insurer has declared your car a write-off and you kept it, that is called a buy-back. You can still scrap it with us. Here is what the categories mean:
| Category | What it means |
|---|---|
| Cat A | The whole vehicle must be crushed |
| Cat B | The body shell must be crushed, some parts can be salvaged |
| Cat S | Structural damage, can be repaired and returned to the road |
| Cat N | Non-structural damage, can be repaired |
Many owners keep a Cat S or Cat N car meaning to fix it, then find the repair costs too much. We buy those cars as they are. Our guide on whether to scrap or repair can help you decide.
Flood damaged cars
Low roads and fords can catch drivers out after heavy rain. A car that has had water through the engine or the cabin often ends up with electrical faults, damp interiors and engine damage that is hard to put right. We buy flood damaged cars from around Brigstock and collect them free.
Can you collect a car that cannot be driven?
Yes. Many damaged cars cannot be steered or rolled. Our collections use the recovery trucks of our sister company, Rapid Recovery Corby, with winches, dollies and skates for cars with crushed wheels or locked brakes. If you have two damaged cars, some trucks carry one and tow a second. Tell us about the damage when we call and we will plan the collection around it.
How is a damaged car priced?
Damaged cars are priced mainly on weight and the current scrap metal price, then the make, model and how complete the car is. Damage that has taken out major parts, or parts removed after the accident, will affect the price. Keys and the V5C also help.
The online price is based on your registration and postcode. It stands as long as the car is complete and as described. If something is different on the day, we explain why before we load and you can say no. See our damaged cars costs guide for more.
What to sort out before collection
- Take out personal belongings, including the glovebox, door pockets, boot and under the spare wheel.
- Remove dashcams, sat navs and parking permits.
- Transfer or retain any private plate with the DVLA first.
- Have photo ID and proof of address ready, which the law requires us to check.
- Find the V5C if you have it. If not, see scrapping without a logbook.
Paid by bank transfer, scrapped legally
We pay by bank transfer on collection, never cash. Cash payments for scrap cars are illegal under the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013. Every damaged car goes to a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility, which issues a Certificate of Destruction and notifies the DVLA. Any full months of tax are refunded automatically, and you cancel the insurance yourself if it is still running.
Dealing with the insurer first
If a claim is still open, let it run its course before you sell. Once the insurer has settled and you have kept the car as a buy-back, or decided not to claim at all, the car is yours to sell. Keep any letters from the insurer that show the write-off category, as they help us understand the car when we price it.
