Paperwork for an old car
Cars that have been off the road a long time often have a SORN, and the logbook may be lost. That is fine. You can sell without the V5C if you have photo ID and proof of ownership and address. Our guide to scrapping a car without a logbook explains what to bring.
Every car goes to a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility. You get a Certificate of Destruction and the DVLA is notified, so you are no longer responsible for the vehicle. A scrapped car does not need a SORN.
Payment by bank transfer
We pay by bank transfer when we collect. The Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 makes paying cash for scrap cars illegal, so we never do it. Please have photo ID and proof of address ready.
