Scrap car collection in Deenethorpe, start to finish
Scrap car collection in Deenethorpe begins with one step: get your instant price online. Type in the registration and postcode and you see a price straight away. If you accept, add your name and number and we ring you and agree a collection time that works for you. Collection is free.
Deenethorpe is a small stone village just off the A43, east of Weldon and close to Deene Park. We cover it as part of our regular work around Corby, so you are dealing with a local car scrapper rather than a national call centre.

Why sell your scrap car to a local buyer?
Online comparison sites pass your details around. We are the people who actually turn up. George Mitchell runs the business from Corby and the collections are carried out with our own trucks. That means one conversation, one price and one company responsible for your car from your drive to the treatment facility.
Which cars do we buy?
We buy any scrap car, plus vans up to 3.5 tonnes, 4x4s and pickups. In and around Deenethorpe we regularly hear about:
- Family cars that are simply worn out.
- High-mileage cars that are no longer worth repairing.
- Cars with no MOT or no tax, kept off the road on a SORN.
- Cars that have been sat for years in a garage or outbuilding.
- Vehicles with no V5C, as long as you have ID and proof of ownership.
If yours is not on the list, ask. The answer is usually yes.
How much is my scrap car worth in Deenethorpe?
The honest answer is that it depends on the car. Scrap is bought by the tonne, so a heavier car is generally worth more. On top of the weight and the day's scrap metal price, we look at a few other things.
| Factor | How it affects the price |
|---|---|
| Weight | The biggest single factor |
| Scrap metal price | Moves up and down with the market |
| Make and model | Some cars are worth more than their weight |
| Completeness | Engine, gearbox, catalytic converter and wheels all count |
| Keys and V5C | Having both helps |
| Location | Where the car is collected from |
The scrap car collection cost guide goes into more detail, and so does our guide to how scrap car prices work.
What happens on collection day?
We arrive at the time we agreed. We check your photo ID and proof of address, because the law requires it. We check the car matches the details you gave online. Then we load it and pay you by bank transfer there and then.
If the car is different from what you told us, for example the catalytic converter has gone, we tell you before we load. You can accept the revised price or say no.
Why don't you pay cash?
Because it is illegal. The Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 bans cash payments for scrap metal, and scrap cars are included. Any "cash for cars" offer for a scrap vehicle is breaking the law. A bank transfer also gives you a clear record of the sale.
Paperwork after your car has gone
Every car we buy goes to a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility. The ATF issues a Certificate of Destruction, normally within 7 days, and tells the DVLA. Keep that certificate safe as proof you are no longer responsible for the car. Our Certificate of Destruction guide explains what it is for.
After that:
- Any full months of tax are refunded to you automatically.
- Cancel the car's insurance yourself.
- Keep the yellow slip from the V5C.
A checklist before we arrive
- Empty the glovebox, door pockets and boot, and look under the spare wheel.
- Take out any dashcam, sat nav or parking permit.
- Cancel any toll or parking accounts linked to the registration.
- If you want to keep a private plate, transfer or retain it with the DVLA first. Once the car is scrapped, the plate is lost.
- Have your ID, proof of address, keys and V5C ready.

How quickly can you collect my scrap car?
We agree a collection time that suits you when we call. Same-day collection is often possible, but it depends on the day.
What do I need to show when you collect?
Photo ID such as a driving licence or passport, plus proof of address. Have the V5C and keys ready if you have them.
Can I get a price without phoning?
Yes. Enter your registration and postcode online for an instant price, then accept it and we call you to book.
What if the car is different from what I described?
We explain any change in price before we load, and you are free to say no.
