Scrap my car in Weldon: how it works
Scrap car collection in Weldon starts with a price, not a visit. Enter your reg and postcode on our get a price page, and the price shows straight away. If you are happy, accept it and add your name and number. We then ring to book a time that suits you. If not, there is nothing to pay and no obligation.
We are based in Corby, right next door, and the collection is carried out by our own recovery trucks. That means no middleman passing your details on and no stranger turning up in a van you weren't expecting.

Who scraps cars in Weldon?
Most of the scrap cars we buy in the village belong to people who simply have no more use for them. A few situations come up again and again:
- A household on one of the newer developments has bought a newer car, and the old one is taking up a parking space.
- An older car has finally developed a fault that would cost more to fix than it is worth.
- Someone in the family has stopped driving, and their car has been sat in the garage of a stone cottage near the village centre.
- A car has been run into the ground on daily trips along the A43 and has nothing left to give.
Whatever the reason, the process is the same, and the car is bought and collected for free.
How much is my scrap car worth in Weldon?
There is no flat rate, because every car is different. The main factors are shown below.
| What affects the price | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Weight of the car | Scrap is priced by the tonne |
| Current scrap metal price | It moves with the market |
| Make and model | Some cars are worth more than their weight |
| Complete or not | Engine, gearbox, catalytic converter and wheels all count |
| Keys and V5C | Make the sale straightforward |
| Location | Where we need to collect from |
Our scrap car collection cost guide goes through each factor. The online price holds as long as the car matches your description. If something is different on the day, for example the catalytic converter has gone, we explain before we load and you can say no.
Car scrappers you can check
When you search for car scrappers or a scrap yard near you, it is worth checking who you are dealing with. We hold a waste carrier licence and a scrap metal collector's licence. Every car we collect goes to a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility, the only kind of site that can legally scrap a car. The ATF issues a Certificate of Destruction, normally within 7 days, and notifies the DVLA. Read more in our Certificate of Destruction guide.
Why we don't pay cash
You may still see adverts offering cash for cars. Paying cash for scrap metal, including scrap cars, has been illegal since the Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013. We pay you instantly by bank transfer at the point of collection, and by law we check your name and address before we do.
Getting ready for collection day
A little preparation makes the visit quick:
- Take out your belongings. Check the glovebox, door pockets, boot and the well under the spare wheel.
- Remove any dashcam, sat nav or parking permit.
- If you have a private plate you want to keep, transfer or retain it with the DVLA before we collect. Once a car is scrapped, the plate is lost.
- Find your photo ID and proof of address, plus the V5C if you have it.
- Cancel any toll or parking accounts linked to the reg.
After the car has gone, cancel the insurance yourself. The tax refund for any full months left comes automatically once the DVLA is told.
No logbook?
You can still scrap a car in Weldon without the V5C, as long as you can show proof of ID and proof of ownership or address. Our guide to scrapping a car without a logbook explains what counts.
Parking in the village
In the older part of Weldon, many cars live on the street or in narrow driveways between stone walls. On the newer estates, the issue is more often a car boxed in by others. Tell us where the car is and how it is parked. We will bring a truck that suits the spot, and if the car is in a garage with a low roof or the wheels won't turn, our van with dollies and skates can bring it out.

Is scrap car collection in Weldon really free?
Yes. We collect free of charge from anywhere in Weldon, whether the car is on a drive, the roadside or in a garage.
How do you pay me for my scrap car?
