Free scrap car collection in Kettering
Scrap car collection in Kettering works the same way whether your car is on a town centre street, a driveway on an estate or a car park at work. We give you a price, collect the car for free, and pay you by bank transfer before the truck leaves.
We come down from Corby on the A43, so Kettering is a regular run for us. We also go out to Burton Latimer and the villages around the town.

What happens, step by step?
- Enter your registration and postcode on our instant price page.
- The price comes up on screen.
- Accept it, add your contact details, and we phone you to agree a time.
- We turn up, check the car and your ID, and load the car.
- You are paid by bank transfer there and then.
Should the car be different from what you described, for example a catalytic converter missing, we tell you before loading and you are free to turn the new price down.
Where can you collect from in Kettering?
- Driveways and roadsides across the town's estates.
- Terraced streets near the town centre.
- Car parks, including near Kettering station, with the owner's permission.
- Garage forecourts that want a customer's car cleared.
- Business premises and yards near the A14.
Collections are done by our sister company, Rapid Recovery Corby, using beavertail transporters and spec lift tow trucks. A car parked nose-in on a narrow street can be winched or lifted out, and with some trucks able to carry one car and tow another, two cars from the same address can often go together.
What decides my scrap car price in Kettering?

| Scrap metal market | The price per tonne moves up and down |
| Make and model | Some cars are worth more than their weight |
| Complete or stripped | Engine, gearbox, catalytic converter and wheels |
| Keys and V5C | Both help the price |
| Location | Where we are collecting from |
There are more details in our scrap car collection cost guide. The online price holds as long as the car matches your description.
Preparing the car
Give the car a good clear-out before we arrive. Check the glovebox, door pockets, boot and spare wheel well, and take out any dashcam, sat nav or parking permit. If the registration is linked to toll or parking accounts, cancel them.
Want to keep your private number plate? Transfer or retain it with the DVLA first. Once the car has been scrapped, the plate is gone for good.
Who handles the car after it leaves Kettering?
Your car goes to a licensed Authorised Treatment Facility (ATF). Only an ATF can legally scrap a car. It issues a Certificate of Destruction, normally within 7 days, and tells the DVLA, which then refunds any full months of tax left automatically. You need to cancel your own insurance.
Keep the Certificate of Destruction and the yellow V5C slip together. If anyone ever queries the car, such as a parking notice sent to your address, those two papers show the date it left your hands and went for legal scrapping. Our Certificate of Destruction guide explains why they matter.
Selling a scrap car versus a private sale
A car that is worn out, high mileage or facing a big repair is hard to sell privately. Buyers haggle, time-wasters do not show up, and you can be left with a car that still needs moving. Selling to scrap car buyers like us gives you one agreed price, free removal and a legal paper trail. If you are not sure the car is finished, our guide on whether to scrap or repair can help you decide.
